Hopefully, this post is not redundant. Today, while birding the Goose
Viewing area at Dead Creek, Greg Askew found a family group of 6 Ross's
Geese amongst perhaps 1500-2000 Snow Geese. We watched them for some
time and were joined by Jim Osbourne, Ted Murin and Jim Meade (please
excuse any omissions here; they are not intentional.) It was our good
fortune that the birds were near the access road today. The Snow geese
included both greater and lesser in both white and blue phases, as
pointed out by Jim Osbourne. All in all a great show for the geese.
To the West, perhaps 500 Canada's were roosting in the ponds at the farm
just west of Dead Creek.
Other species at Dead Creek today included:
Dowitcher sp. (potential long-billed)
Great Blue Heron
American Black Duck
for Terry, Greg, Ted, Jim, Jim and everyone else who was there!
