About noon today I spotted the Coopers Hawk perched just above one of
the backyard suet feeders while 2 squirrels busily made short work of
the food. Other squirrels were ground feeding at other feeders, while a
mixed group of 3 cardinals, sparrows, house finches and juncos stayed
together in the lilac bush against the house only about 30 feet away.
The hawk swooped toward the house but veered off, bird-less.The birds
didn't budge. (Too bad he didn't chase the squirrels....)Nancy Goodrich,
