I have purchased dozens of binoculars over the years to outfit my
ornithology class or for gifts or personal use. I was surprised to
found that many of the binoculars that you buy right off the shelf are
out of alignment. I was in a camera store that sold binoculars and
found virtually all their binocs were out of alignment. I think the
newer binoculars are constructed better but I would not buy binocs
except in person or from a dealer who knows how to detect alignment
problems and would honor returns.
