This morning I was treated to the sight of a first-year male
WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL visiting trees and feeders in my yard in South
Burlington. This was a new yard bird for me. In fact I don't believe
I've ever seen one in the Burlington area. Other species including
Pine Grosbeak (12)
Common Redpoll (5)
American Goldfinch (2)
Northern Cardinal (8)
House Finch (6)
Downy Woodpecker (2)
Hairy Woodpecker (1)
Black-capped Chickadee (5)
American Tree Sparrow (2)
Dark-eyed (Slate-colored) Junco (1)
American Robin (20+)
made this a very busy morning, and I haven't even left the house yet!
With all these birds around, can a Northern Goshawk be far behind?
I'll definitely be checking Deerfield Dr. and the UVM Horse Barn on
the way into work!
