This morning near the Enosburgh Town Forest (Longley Bridge Road):

at least 38 Evening Grosbeaks
7 Pine Grosbeaks (2 male, 5 female)

and the usual blue jays, BC chickadees, and ravens. Also at least one downy woodpecker (and yes, I'll make my ebird report....)

I'd been standing for a while trying to get as accurate a count of the EVGRs as I could. It was interesting that they flew from their perches in a couple of tall white ash trees immediately as a distant raven croaked. Whether there was a cause/effect relationship, I can't say, but it was striking.
