Did you see the eye-color, Miriam? Also, where along the length of the bird
or its tail did the primary tips rest?
Enjoy your visitor!

Subject: [VTBIRD] Male R-W Blackbird in Monkton?
My husband and I saw what I think must have been a male Red-Winged Blackbird
very briefly at our feeder this morning. I say "must have been" only
because I can't think what else it could have been. It was pure black
(including the beak) and just slightly larger than sparrow-sized or a bit
larger, although it seemed a bit small for a RW Blackbird and we couldn't
see any shoulder patch.
Is there any other smallish black bird I could be seeing that I don't know
about (there's no way it was a grackle)? Has anyone seen any R-W Blackbirds
hanging around this winter?
