During the Thanksgiving? break, we saw two owls in Hinesburg.? The Great Horned Owl was sitting on a tree stump about 10 feet off the ground in the woods between our house and our neighbors.? First we heard him, then observed on the post, and finally we got a view of his amazing wingspread as he flew away.
The barred owl was in our backyard on Saturday.? This happened a few years ago, but in the summer.? This time, the barred owl stayed in a tree 2- feet from the house for about 3 hours while he sunned himself.? No amount of house guests (including grandchildren) going to the window with binocs disrupted him.? He was still there at dark.? Photos taken through the window are attached.?
