While counting the Mourning Doves in my yd this a.m., a Northern Shrike flew into my 'feeder tree' for about 5 sec., moved to another visible tree and than off. Other birds did not flush, but by eye and flight that was the first N. Shrike see in my yard area in 35 yrs! Earlier a Red-Tail Hawk perched nearby, the crows announcing its presence.
AND, my first Pine Siskins of the season along with a second visit from Redpolls. Who says winter bird watching is dull???
