Hunger will bring these animals out in the daytime, especially to a
site where they've discovered food before.
One of the most beautiful unexpected sights I ever saw was an early
spring opossum by a road in Panton in the middle of a sunny March
day. The snow along the sides of the road were splashed with road
dirt and were an almost even pale tan color. The possum looked a
clean, soft yellowish-white against the tan. It was standing up,
holding a partially-eaten Granny Smith apple in its pink paws. I
couldn't have designed a more pleasing combination of colors.
