Yesterday morning, walking on the County Road in Woodbury, a Great Blue
Heron flew directly over me heading north. While the Winooski to the south
and the Lamoille (I think!) to the north are still open, all still water
was frozen long ago. This bird really seems to be pushing the envelope! I
saw lots of frazil ice in the Winooski on Sunday. Quite a resonant encounter
in any case; the huge bird appearing silently out of the winter landscape
and flying low right over my head.
