Here at the Barre School District we are licensed for AVG Network edition although we have not setup the central distribution/management end.
We hope to at some point. Cost was a driving factor for us... 2 years for 750 clients for a little over $3400.

I have also heard that Sophos was an effective solution for both platforms,
and I know some of the bigger districts use it. When I checked into pricing
I found that the cost ($22 per client from ASAP, at 150 client pricing
level) was significantly more than others (currently ~$5 per renewal, ~$12
per new client for Symantec).
Ray Ballou responded that he has been using the (paid) AVG network version
and has been pleased. Are there others using this? I have heard enough
negative feedback about the new Symantec product that I am looking for a
