Reported to me by several friends, a "large" owl in the little park in 
front of the Catholic Cathedral on Cherry St. in downtown Burlington 
around 9:00pm last night. One woman said it appeared to be a barred owl 
rather than great horned; but not definitive. Stayed perched for some 
time for a group of amazed revellers, welcoming in a new year. Nancy
