Size CAN be determining factor. Female adults are often if not usually larger than males...They eat more and often have an additional molt during larval stage due to the fact that they have to build up reserve energy for egg-laying...Males need energy only to mate (often similar as in humans)...

Aren't the top two male and bottom two female by Bryan's notes? Therefore, the FEMALE has the white spots, the male orange and white on hind wing. (see Glassberg) So is size also a determinate in sexing?
