We recently changed filaments for the first time and I noticed a pattern of
discoloration on the aperature that is eye-shaped and perpindicular to the
vertical orientation of the rectangular opening of the aperture. Obviously,
our beam shape has taken on an odd profile. I have 2 questions:
1. Is the beam supposed to be "flattened" in the vertical direction
(parallel to the aperture) or in the horizontal direction?
In other words...is the problem 1) our beam is perpindicular to the
aperature shape as it should be but and just too wide, or, 2) should it be
parallel to the aperature slit and it has completely the wrong orientation?
2. Seems like this should be a matter of adjusting the deflection
plates...maybe x-deflection is overwhelming y-deflection?...any tips?
Cheers, Dave Mrofka
