My experience has been if you give the eee to a middle/high school age student, they have no problem using the keyboard. We are working with one school that is deploying them to middleschoolers in April, so that will be a good test.
From my personal use of the eee, when I first starting using it I had difficulty with certain keys (enter/backpace/?/etc), but now I've adapted to it and have no trouble.
It seems its people of later generations have the most trouble with it... ;-)

Subject: Re: EEE PC as mobile lab replacement - long term use?
Anyone know what age group that keyboard is appropriate for?
We are looking at the EeePC for grade 3 or 4.
... I find the keyboard challenging. It was my thought that USB
keyboards might actually be more useful ...
