Hi Melissa - I went to the ICS (Incident Command System) training a couple
of years ago at the request of our Fire Chief. If I remember correctly, it
was six Monday nights from 6-10pm, and ended with an exam and certificate.
I found it very informative in terms of what the first responders have to
do. The trainers went over scenarios of when the Town Clerk might be called
upon as a resource and what my role would be.
You can do some training online as well. I'm not sure if having multiple
town personnel go through the training might reduce the town's insurance
rate - worth asking.

Subject: Emergency Management Training
Hi everyone- I was wondering how many clerk/treasurers out there have gone
to emergency training programs through Homeland Security or State of Vermont
Dept.of Public Safety? The training deals with the town's Emergency
Operations Center. Our fire chief is the Emergency Operations coordinator,
and I think the state is now pushing for other town personnel to get
"emergency training". Thanks!
Missy
