Feeder activity in the backyard very busy with 7 pair of Purple Finches, the
highest number we've ever had in the backyard. One pair of American
Goldfinch, though it seems more are showing up each day. 

 

Of most interest was a good twenty minute observation of two male
Red-bellied Woodpeckers harassing one female Red-bellied Woodpecker. The
three chased each other from tree to tree, making all kinds of noise. It's
the first female I've seen since late last summer.
