Jim - You scooped us! We were there about two hours earlier and found 8
shovelers (7 m and 1 f). Either more came in or you were more careful
in your count.
Also, on East Shore Drive (North) in Grand Isle: a pair of Gadwall
(acting like a potential nesting pair), an early drake Blue-winged Teal,
and a single Horned Grebe in exquisite breeding plumage. This latter
bird was worth the price of admission.
