Those of you who want to know what the relative abundance is for all of
the "regularly occurring" species in Vermont should consult Chapter 5
of "Birdwatching in Vermont" by Ted Murin and Bryan Pfeiffer. The Species
Accounts include a graph representing the relative quantity of a given species
in its proper habitat across Vermont on a week-to-week basis throughout the
year. This species status report will help you figure out when and where to
look for these birds. As with anything else, results will vary, but this is as good
a place to start as there is. You will find that your results may be a lot better
when you remove some of the "guesswork" from the equation.
Good luck out there!
