There may be a Peregrine Falcon nesting site adjacent to I-89 just
north of Winooski, about where the speed limit changes from 55 to 65.
April 17th at this spot I observed an adult Peregrine Falcon diving on
and pursuing a Common Raven. This morning ~8:45 am in a prominent lone
white pine just west of the highway a raptor with white facial
markings appeared to be plucking and eating prey in this tree. My son
(passenger) had a better look than I did and identifies it as a PEFA.
The rock quarry west of the interstate would appear to offer suitable
nesting habitat. Drive safely, but keep an eye out as you pass through
the area! - Russ
