I just got through a weapons test, all went pretty well, but after class
Sensei gave us a talk, he has been talking a bit about it before, but this
was a little more open.
I don't know how aware everybody in the club is, but Dojo is in trouble;
membership is down, and with it money. We are trying an open house on the
31st, I have tried posting fliers around, but I don't have really high hopes
that it will turn things around.
I am just writing this to bring everybody on the same page, and to use this
situation to stress that we need to make sure that our paperwork is in order
for the coming year. I have gotten emails asking us to make sure that we
have our application for activities fair and getting our money in or being
cut off, and I haven't really heard about those things getting definitely
taken care of. I have kind of assumed people have dealt with it. Is this a
fair assumption, or has everybody figured somebody else was working on these
It is just that we need to hit the ground running when the next school year
comes up, and I want to make sure everything is in order for doing our part
for the Dojo when UVM starts up again. If Dojo is having problems, I feel
that we have an important position when school starts up again to try and do
something about it. If and when we are in activities fair, you can be sure
that I will be at the Aikido table as long as is necessary.
Sorry to be so ominous or commanding, but Sensei was really trying to convey
a sense of urgency (terms like crisis and hot water came up), and I am just
passing that on.
Hope my worries are for nothing
