For me, the upgrade was painless (XP SP2 -> SP3). It took approximately
35 minutes to complete.

2 GHz processor, 2 GB RAM
The initial reboot/login to usable desktop was long -- about 8 minutes.
Subsequent reboots take less than half that time to get back to work.
Application start-ups _seem_ to be marginally faster. So far, so

Microsoft has delayed public release of Windows XP Service Pack 3 for a
few days/weeks while they iron out compatibility with their ERP system

I have not tested the service pack out myself (I am running a
"Vista/Leopard shop" on my desktops), so I can't share any personal
experiences with this release. If you run XP, give it a whirl, and
share your experiences with the community.
