On May 12 the first male Red-throated Hummingbird made his appearance at the yard feeder. WT Sparrows have been gone for about three days now, but a White crowned Sparrow was at the feeding area this afternoon. Baltimore Orioles are singing all around us and we are waiting to see who sets up territory in our yard. Great crested Flycatcher is singing in the woods but no Wood Thrush yet. House Wrens returned Sunday, May 11, probably to terrorize the Tree Swallows who are already occupying a nest box.
