Just a quick stage of migration note from 14 miles N of Montpelier, about
1100 feet. Basically everybody you'd expect has shown. Latest arrivals are
Scarlet Tanager a few days ago and Great Crested Flycatcher 'reeping'
lustily in the woods. The American Bittern that nests in the wetlands every
year has been around for quite awhile. Warblers include B & W, Yellowthroat,
Ovenbird, Nashville, Parula, Blackburnian, Chestnut-sided, Black-throated
Blue, Black-throated Green, Yellow-rumped, and Yellow. Species of interest
that haven't arrived yet are Canada Warbler and Mourning Warbler, who both
breed here regularly, judging by persistent singing on territory. No wood
pewee yet.
