I am kind of new to the SW Vita-learn scene, but this seems like a great project for Vita-learn regional groups to collaborate and find some solutions to. Small schools are really tough, especially in tight times. Shared resources and option? Just a thought.

Subject: Re: Integration model Technology Instruction
Honestly, we don't have a model. As a matter of fact, due to budget cuts, I had to eliminate the .5 Technology Integration position we did have to make sure we had enough support staff available to keep our current systems running. I would be very interested in what some of the models are for future reference.

What is your integration model? What goals do you have for students as a result of integration of IT with instruction?
For a number of years I taught an "Integrated IT" course at UVM. We always started with a "hands-on" or "minds-on" activity and then selected IT that pushed the activity to new learning levels. Sometimes we didn't use IT because it didn't fit or extend the original instruction to a new level.
There are lots of models - what are you using?

Our school has tried a couple models regarding technology instruction. We have tried scheduled weekly classes and an integration model. Neither seems to work very well. Although the teachers and the tech teachers like the scheduled classes, administration wishes to go with the integration model. The issue for the tech teachers is that no one wants to do any tech instruction in the beginning of the year and then everyone wants to come at the same time - such as between Thanksgiving and Christmas break which leaves many frustrated because we can not accommodate everyone at once.
So we will be going back to the integration model next year. We are a K-8 School with about 3-4 classes on a grade level. I am hoping some of you will share how you go about Technology instruction, especially if you are using an integration model.
Thank you for you time...
