At BFA, Fairfax we have one integration specialist serving students in grades 3 to 8. (400 students)Classes alternate between elementary and middle school every other week.  In the elementary the students have a regularly scheduled 1 hour class every two weeks.  The middle school students have two 50 minute classes of instruction every other week. Teachers must work with the Specialist to integrate technology. Planning is done with teachers the week before classes are scheduled. 
The middle school classes are rotated through the four major curriculum areas/teachers.  Integrated units and technology match with the curriculum are considered in scheduling as well. 
Plenty of planning time has been built into the schedule of the specialist to allow for meeting time and lesson planning.

Hello All,

Our school has tried a couple models regarding technology  
instruction.  We have tried scheduled weekly classes and an  
integration model.  Neither seems to work very well.  Although the  
teachers and the tech teachers like the scheduled classes,  
administration wishes to go with the integration model.  The issue  
for the tech teachers is that no one wants to do any tech instruction  
in the beginning of the year and then everyone wants to come at the  
same time - such as between Thanksgiving and Christmas break which  
leaves many frustrated because we can not accommodate everyone at once.

So we will be going back to the integration model next year.  We are  
a K-8 School with about 3-4 classes on a grade level.  I am hoping  
some of you will share how you go about Technology instruction,  
especially if you are using an integration model.
