We were delighted to spot a BITTERN amongst the cattails on a tucked-away
farm pond in Randolph Center, along with a family raft of ducks and one of
geese. Turtles too.
Walking to the pond, we couldn't avoid a noisy pair of snipe - one sat atop
a fence post, the other flew to a powerline above. I had thought they made
themselves scarce, but these two were not at all secretive.
