Although not Vt I saw an active nest on the Hudson across from North Troy When my brother in law lived in a riverside apt. This was 3 or 4 seasons ago and it was active the season following. Its status since is unknown to me as he had moved but, the eagles are coming in from this side too (possibly). I have also seen them frequently at the Tomhannock. I thought they had potential nesters at Sommerset but, couldn't locate a nest? Kevin

Subject: [VTBIRD] bald eagles
This sightings was reported for Wed, June 4:
"at Miller Pond along Depot Road (south of) Arlington, we spotted an immature (but quite large) bald eagle frolicking in shallow water near the north end of the pond. For awhile we thought it might be ill or injured, but after watching it for about a half hour, it suddenly took off and flew to a nearby pine tree, perching about 30 feet above the ground. I so rarely see an eagle of any kind...."
This on the heels of mature bald eagles being reported just N of Arlington along RT 7 on May 19 and in Londonderry (picture taken) on May 28.
This is very exciting!!! Has any one else heard of reports here in SW VT, away from the CT River valley?
