Several years ago I had a similarly delightful encounter with a RTH
while I was watching a Pileated Woodpecker. The Hummingbird was
feeding on various nearby flowers and then decided to try to "feed"
on the red crest of the Woodpecker!
>Walking in my garden after a recent rain, I heard the 'hummmmm...'
>I had my hand held (as a visor) over my eyes.
>The hummingbird approached me, hovered, then poked its bill between my
>closely-held fingers and probed.
>While not remotely flowerlike, I WAS wearing red shoes!
