Thanks for this summary, Karen!

I'm not surprised that EndNote Web isn't doing anything with the PMCID,
since the product seems to be geared more for undergrads and grad
students who are using it for an occasional paper. The folks who need to
include PMCIDs in grant applications would probably be using EndNote or
another full-featured package.

EndNote Web is not currently doing anything with the PMCID # and it is
not imported currently.  With a quick perusal of their site, I could
find no info about their plans (or not) to modify anything.  It is
updated quarterly, so don't look for anything anytime soon.
