Otsuka's Information Resource Center (IRC) is expanding and seeking an
Information Specialist/Senior Information Specialist who will be
responsible for the following duties:

 

1.                  Conduct research to meet user information needs and
support decision making by utilizing various internal and external
resources in the fields of medical, pharmaceutical, business and
government regulations 

*        Perform and coordinate information needs analysis

*        Translate user information needs into effective search
strategies

*        Perform Internet and online database searches such as Dialog,
DataStar, Factiva

*        Evaluate, analyze, synthesize and deliver research results
effectively

 

2.                  Track and monitor products and industry trends to
provide business intelligence for IRC clients

*        Work collaboratively with clients to identify and define needs

*        Establish effective tracking strategies and systems 

*        Disseminate the results through multiple channels including
website portals

*        Regularly assess the effectiveness of tracking systems and
implement new solutions

*        Publish weekly alerts in different subject areas and products 

 

3.                  Market and promote IRC resources and services

*        Develop marketing plans and implement systematic client
outreach programs

*        Develop strong relationships with client groups and project
teams and seek opportunities for partnerships with clients

*        Conduct presentations at various meetings and programs

*        Conduct user survey or focus group interviews to regularly
evaluate client needs

*        Participate in the design, planning and implementation of new
services or programs 

*        Develop IRC promotional materials

*        Prepare the IRC newsletters

 

4.                  Develop and conduct user training programs

*        Analyze and identify user training needs

*        Develop and implement strategic marketing, communication and
training plans to leverage information resources and services provided
by IRC

*        Conduct user training on the use of specialty databases and
systems

*        Establish and implement processes for continuous measurement of
training effectiveness

 

5.                  Engage in mentoring and cross-training programs

*        Provide guidance and support to IRC or temporary staff when
needed

*        Train and coach IRC or temporary staff when needed

*        Participate in cross-training programs to develop knowledge and
skills of other job functions

 

6.                  Assume key duties in the absence of IRC Senior
Manager, such as coordinating staff 

workload, adjusting timelines, setting priorities, leading complex
information projects, handling urgent issues with users and vendors, and
coaching.  

 

7.                  Support IRC activities and other tasks as assigned

 

 

Requirements:

 

*        Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited
program

*        At least 3-7 years of library or information center experience
in pharmaceutical, biotech, medical or chemical industry

*        Expert knowledge and proficiency with pharmaceutical, medical
and business related resources and databases such as Dialog, DataStar,
STN, OVID and Factiva

*        Proven excellent presentation skills

*        Proven excellent communication, customer service and
interpersonal skills

*        Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks

*        Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail

*        Experience with Inmagic TextWorks and WebPublisherPRO preferred

*        Capable of  working independently as well as collaboratively
with fellow team members and clients
