It is the Busy Season!
The Bluebirds only finished moving out of the birdbox on Tuesday and
today a House Wren was checking it out! I am planning to clean it
out tomorrow...though I was hoping the Bluebirds would come back to
hatch a second brood here this year (if they choose to have a second brood).
The House Wrens had a nest next door already, so either they are
already scouting for a nest site for a second brood or this was one
of the babies out playing at nesting.
:~) June in Jericho
P.S.: Ruth, could they really have been abandoned if ten days later
they are still alive? Maybe they had two layings and the first two
hatched earlier than the second two? Are you absolutely certain the
adults haven't been there part-time feeding the remaining young? Our
Bluebirds had some in and some out of the box and were some busy
keeping track of it all! Hope all is well. ~ JMS.
