Thanks to a tip from a Massachusetts birder, Team Pipit checked the
small farm pond off Goodrich Corners Road in Addison early this
afternoon. There indeed was a lovely little Red-necked Phalarope feeding
happily and feeling apparently very much at home.
This is the same pond where phalaropes have been seen on other occasions
- and where birders are asked to remain on the public road and not to
use the driveway in order to obtain closer views.
This strikes me as an exceptionally late date for Red-necked Phalarope
in Vermont.
