Thanks to Team Pipit's posting of the Red-necked Phalarope, I was able to see 
it in the pond on Goorich Corner Rd. I did some quick research and found the 
following info. According to page #140 in the book, "Birdwatching in Vermont" 
(co-authored by Ted Murin and Bryan Pfeiffer), this bird usually comes to 
Vermont (during the fall), sometime in the 1st/2nd week of August thru the 
2nd/3rd week of September. Also, according to the "Vermont Daily Field Card", 
this bird usually comes to Vermont (during the fall), from the 2nd week of 
August thru the 1st week of September. In both cases these dates are valid 
only in the year(s) that the Red-necked Phalarope(s) even show up at all in 
Vermont. Now, I don't know how late the records would show that this specie 
has arrived in Vermont before, but I would agree with Team Pipit that this is 
indeed an exceptionally late date for them. I felt quite lucky to get a look at it 
this morning..

I also stopped at Oven Bay and spotted 4 Long-tailed Ducks flying low near 
the water, heading south.

At Meach Cove I counted 599 Canada Geese out in the water. There were no 
unusual Geese in the group, but there was an individual Lesser Scaup (f) with 
them. I thought that this was kind of curious..
