Hi All,
Late this afternoon I stopped at the Goose viewing area in Addison to try for a
Cackling Goose. There were plenty of Snow Geese and in decent viewing
range but no Cackling variety with them. While looking at the Geese I heard
some Greater Yellowlegs and located them in flight and watched where they
landed. I went over to that area and found:
5 Greater Yellowlegs
2 Pectoral Sandpipers
1 White-rumped Sandpiper
The shorebirds were flying back and forth between the virtual pond(east of
the viewing platform) and the first cornfield(flooded) toward the east.
I did not count the Geese at all but if I had to take a guess, I would estimate
around 4,000 Snow Geese.
I also saw :
1 Snow Bunting
1 Horned Lark
2 Northern Harrier
Enjoy Birds,
Jim Mead
