I had a great morning for woodpeckers today. A Red-bellied Woodpecker
appeared at the suet feeder for the first time in over a year. Five
minutes later, as I went to the mail box, I heard then saw not one, but
two Pileated Woodpeckers on a nearby tree. We do see Pileateds several
times a year, but they're always a treat, and even more so when there's
more than one. Ten minutes later, a male Downy was on the suet. A great
way to start the day.
