I spotted two Cackling Geese among 200+ Canada Geese on the east side of
Shelburne Bay at 2:17 p.m. I wasn't sure what subspecies they were so I
called Ted Murin to see if he could take a look at them. He was able to and he
confirmed that they were indeed Cackling Geese and also that they were a
(Richardson's subspecies). We looked them over quite well for about 45
minutes. While we were there Henry Trombley pulled in and got to see them as
well. He was there to try and get a look at the Brant (j) that has been
hanging out for about 6 days now. It was there as well.
