Arrived at CTB around 2:35pm this afternoon. Heidi Rich spotted a swallow and
soon after we had the binos and scopes on the bird. This bird flew back and
forth, basically straight out from the bench used for lakewatching, about 150
to 200 feet from us. This back and forth flying continued in front of us for
about 45 minutes, allowing multiple close looks to include clear views of the
pale throat and dark "cap-like" top of the head. While Heidi and I were
watching the swallow, Glen Mohler from New Jersey (another birder) joined us
and also got good close looks.
After the 45 minutes, the bird moved further north along the shoreline in the
area close to the concrete pier, where it continued to fly about. We continued
watching it until about 4:10 when we left. The bird was still there when we
left. Hope it sticks for others in the morning.
