Just when I was getting bummed that most of our birds have departed or
gone back into the woods up high ...
Location: Wallis Farmhouse 882 VT 100 S, Moretown
Observation date: 11/16/08
Notes: Life Bird Boogie ... I saw the WW Crossbills fly into our piney
woods and thought Pine Grosbeak at first. As I watched them fly from
tree to tree, though, it was the profound white wingbars AND Pipit had
me describe their posture, which was more Chickadee-like hanging upside
down on the pine cones versus the erect posture of Grosbeak.
I hope this mixed flock of males and females hang out for a bit.
Wonder what else these winds may blow into our Valley!
Number of species: 6
Blue Jay 2
Black-capped Chickadee 10
Red-breasted Nuthatch 1
White-breasted Nuthatch 1
Brown Creeper 1
White-winged Crossbill 24
