The Salter (U. Edin.) 'duck' looked OK 3 decades ago; wave
energy has been a receding mirage all these years.
Using the compressibility of air is also far from new - a
Norwegian system was doing that at least 25 y ago.
Why would the number of homes supplied be based on an assumed
avg of only 1 kWe??
>ScienceDaily (Dec. 18, 2008) - MIT researchers are working with
>Portuguese colleagues to design a pilot-scale device that will
>capture significantly more of the energy in ocean waves than
>existing systems, and use it to power an electricity-generating
> will generate 750 kilowatts - roughly enough to power 750 homes.
>"We found that we could optimize the efficiency of the OWC by making
>use of the compressibility of air - something that is not
>intuitively obvious," Mei says. "It's very exciting."
