Dear students and parents of ACV, I would like to wish everyone a happy New
Year, and thank you for your continuing commitment to Aikido of Champlain
Valley. I encourage everyone to join the Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT)
program – this allows students to avoid the inconvenience of paying late
fees ($15 after the 10th of the month), and you will receive a $10 a month
discount off your membership fees (otherwise, as of January 1st dues will
increase by $10 a month for everyone).

If you do not want to join the program for financial reasons, please speak
to me directly and we can privately arrange a discounted rate. We also have
a work-study program for students who cannot pay full membership fees.
Please let me know if you have any other questions and concerns regarding
the EFT program or your ability to pay membership dues. We need to support
each other during these financially challenging times.

Last year was particularly difficult for the dojo – we lost $12,000 due to
low membership enrollment. And this year promises to be quite challenging,
with a rent increase and a struggling economy.

We need your help. If everyone in the dojo provides energy and support this
year, I think that we can emerge from this recession stronger than ever. If
you have any skills to provide to the dojo, your energy is greatly
appreciated. We need volunteers to tell friends and colleagues about Aikido
of Champlain Valley, post fliers, and in general support the dojo through a
commitment to practicing and supporting new students. I will send a number
of e-mails in the coming weeks that will describe upcoming events and ideas
to generate additional members and publicity for the dojo. Thank you again
for your support. Without a core group of committed students, we would have
had to close our doors this year.

Sincerely,

Benjamin Pincus
Dojo Cho
Executive Director
Aikido of Champlain Valley
