ATTENTION: Vermont Science, Social Studies, LiteracyL/anguage Arts/English
teachers and Technology Integration support educators
We have been granted additional funding by the DOE to conduct another
“Creating 21st Century Classrooms: Connecting the Dots II.” Although
participation is open to everyone, preference will be given to teams from
the SOUTHERN PART OF THE STATE (Rutland – South), which has been
under-represented in the previous two sessions. With that said,e veryone
interested should apply! The project will take place in a more southern
location – Southern Vermont College in Bennington. This session startsin
late May of this year and will run through January 2010. The main meeting
time will be this summer.
Lots of great benefits like three free graduate credits, food and lodging,
a Netbook, $500 stipend,and more!
If you were one of the teams that already applied in the last round and
didn’t get in and you wish to be reconsidered, you do NOT have to fill out
a new application unless there will be a change to your team. All you
have to do is send me an email and let me know you are interested and, if
you are, if you are requesting overnight accommodations at Southern
Vermont Colleged uring the summer sessions. Please remember, preference
will be given to teams from southern Vermont. Speaking of changes in
teams, some teams were disqualified last time because they didn’t meet the
criteria (see below). If you suspect this may be why your application was
rejected you may wish to re-submit your application with a different team
We want to be clear about who is eligible. For the content areas, you must
be a teacher whowill be teaching grades 4-12 next year and in a situation
where you can personally implement the unit/lessons you create. You must
be from the content areas of Social Studies,Science or Literacy/Language
Arts/English. Unfortunately, we had to disqualify some teams who applied
in the last round because they did not meet the criteria.
The technologysupport person does not have to be a certified technology
integration specialist. The technology support person could be a
classroom teacher, librarian, Principal, anyone who has experience using
technology in education and is willing and has the ability to support the
content teachers both in the development and implementation of the units.
The key will be to make a good case for your ability to give support.
Outline your experience including courses you have taken, workshops you
have attended, and your personal experiences with classroom integration.
We will be running another session starting in early 2010in which equal
preference will be given to northern, central and southernapplicants. This
next session will likely focus on the areas of Math &Science. An
announcement on this will be made in the fall.
The timeline on this applications is quite short. Please download the
information flyer and application at [ http://vtcite.org/node/2702
]http://vtcite.org/node/2702 and get it out to potential teams as soon as
