Hello Vt Birders,
Had my FOY Song Sparrow and Woodcock experience yesterday at the path across the road from the Shelburne Bay Park parking lot. If we stay quietly on the path, it does not seem to interfere with the Woodcocks' display - at least 3, probably more. There may be a name for that trail but I don't know it. If anyone does, please send it to me off list. Thanks.
Just for your info, since the subject has come up on this list: If you go to the main page of VT fish and Wildlife, which you can reach from this page, http://www.vtfishandwildlife.com/index.cfm , there is a link for the spring snow goose hunt on the right side, halfway down , http://www.vtfishandwildlife.com/snowgoose_harvest.cfm , Sorry for the convoluted way to get there but for some reason I could not access the snowgoose page without going through all this. Perhaps some of you will be able to go directly to it. I showed the previous post to a family member who is a hunter, so he directed me there. Perhaps this will save some unnecessary tension between hunters and birders. It also mentions the reasoning behind the hunting season but it is disturbing to see Ross' Geese are included. Perhaps there is an overpopulation of them as well though that had never been pointed out to me. We were always just thrilled to see them locally.
Best, Jo Lafayette Burlington
