Call for Presenters-
Making Learning Accessible-
Assistive Technology for Students K-12
One-Day Conference, August 20, 2009, at Champlain College, Burlington, Vermont
Sponsored by VITA-Learn (Vermont Information Technology Association for the Advancement of Learning)
We are looking for presenters who would like to share their expertise and experience in using assistive technology tools to make learning accessible for students with print access disabilities, students with intensive special needs or students who are learning English as a second language. Presenters should use examples of specific computer software applications, Web 2.0 tools and other assistive technology devices that have proven successful in minimizing learning barriers for students with specialized learning needs.
Conference audience members may include Special Education Teachers, Paraeducators, Regular Education Teachers, Administrators, ESL/ESOL Teachers, School Library Media Specialists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Pathologists, School Psychologists, Information Technology Professionals, Assistive Technology Professionals, parents of students and others interested in assistive technology..
Please send a write-up with a creative title and description with no more than 75 words. Please remember it is the quality of your write-up that will draw people to your session. Breakout sessions will be 1 hour in length, in a classroom setting. All classrooms will be equipped with power point projectors and WiFi access. Audience members may bring laptops. We are hoping this one-day conference will bring together a wide variety of views and information to benefit students in need of assistive technology.
