Good story, Michael. Thanks. But you chose to omit
the item I thought most striking: that Mako John Kuwimb,
Highlander and anthropology doctorand, was criticized
by a peer reviewer of a scholarly article for departing
from the-truth-according-to-Diamond. Jared Diamond
(who IS a thoughtful person, whatever run-ins some may
have had with him) excuses anything & everything by his
story having been journalism not science; at the same
time his article is treated by a professional
anthropologist as authenticated. You did well to end
with the notion of his making amends. Makes sense by
Highlander code, professional code, and possibly even
by the code of law, if such there be.
