This morning at around 7:15 the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher was relocated at the Whimsy Farm along the edge of Miller's Pond. A small group of birders enjoyed this rare opportunity while the bird preened (presumably it was a wet night) and moved from the shrubs along the pond to the poplars and then the power lines by pole 90. After about 10 minutes the bird took flight (those tail feathers are truly amazing) heading over the pond and white pines to the north. I tracked the bird in my binoculars for as long as possible with it eventually disappearing out of sight. My best guess for relocation would be somewhere along Warm Brook Rd. That is unless it has decided to make a big jump. Last night's weather was probably not very conducive to migration (or wandering in this particular case!)
