A Spotted Sandpiper was observed at Crystal Beach, Lake Bomoseen, flying  
low over the water when it was attacked from above by a male Red-winged  
Blackbird, epaulets ablaze! The sandpiper made a dive into the water, being  
momentarily completely submerged, at which time the blackbird gave up the  
chase!  The sandpiper, thus relieved, continued on its way.
