Amazing the good birding one can do on one's hands and knees, digging
in perennial beds:
On the weekend our orioles returned and scarfed down four orange
halves! And still hanging around are dozens of siskins and a
beautiful trio of white-crowned sparrows. They must like it here -
they usually come, sing a bit, charm us, and then leave. Three pairs
of tree swallows have also made their box choices, with no bluebird
(yet) to quarrel with.
