I always look at the feeding station before calling it a day just to see what
the last bird of the day is and boy was I surprised when I looked out and saw
a Common Redpoll at the base of the main feeder, A male and I'd have to say
in the best color I've ever seen a C. Redpoll. The red cap just glowed it was
so bright, guessing Breeding Plumage extra color pigment maybe. Does anyone
know about this bright red color? Is it normal spring breeding color and
because they are up north be now so we don't get to see it ?
Never thought I'd see a redpoll at 8:17 pm on May 20, but this year has had
some amazing birds, so why not.
