An oriole spent some time yesterday examining a clear plastic feeder filled with sunflower seeds in Waltham. Hasn't come back that I've noticed.

Maeve,
I have had luck putting a wide headed nail in a fence post, cutting an Orange in half and piercing the orange on the nail or cutting a small X on the orange to put on the nail.
However, even though they do come to the orange, the tasty treat also attracts a whole host of other six legged creatures. :-)
Good Luck,

Along with the sugar-water solution in orange-colored feeders, I've put out oranges and jelly. And not once have I seen an oriole at any of the feeders. For two years in a row, Baltimore Orioles actually nested in my yard, flying back and forth over my feeders many times a day - and never showed any interest.
